Ernest Bennett (politician)
Ernest Bennett (1865-1947) was a British Liberal Party politician. He served as a Member of Parliament (MP) for Woodstock from 1906 to 1910, and later for Sevenoaks from 1918 to 1923.
Bennett was born in Cambridge and educated at University College, Oxford. He initially worked as a journalist and writer. He also served in the First World War, attaining the rank of Captain.
In Parliament, Bennett was known for his advocacy of social reform and international cooperation. He was particularly interested in issues related to working conditions and poverty. He was a supporter of the League of Nations.
After leaving Parliament, Bennett remained active in public life, continuing to write and speak on political and social issues.
