Balliya

Balliya is a village located in the Solukhumbu District of Province No. 1 in eastern Nepal. It lies within the Khumbu Pasanglhamu Rural Municipality. The village is situated at a relatively lower elevation compared to many other settlements in the Khumbu region, known for being the gateway to Mount Everest. Balliya is primarily an agricultural community, and its inhabitants are predominantly Sherpa people. The village serves as a stop-off point for trekkers and porters heading further into the high Himalayas and offers basic amenities like tea houses and lodges. Access to Balliya is generally by foot, following trails that connect with larger settlements and eventually lead to Lukla's Tenzing-Hillary Airport, the main entry point for most tourists.
