Babile (town)
Babile is a town located in eastern Ethiopia, within the East Hararghe Zone of the Oromia Region. It is situated approximately 35 kilometers west of the city of Harar.
Babile is known for its location near the Babile Elephant Sanctuary, a protected area established to conserve the dwindling population of the Ethiopian elephant. The sanctuary and surrounding area also support a diverse range of other wildlife and plant species.
The town serves as a local trading center for agricultural produce from the surrounding rural areas. The economy of Babile is largely based on agriculture, with livestock herding and crop farming being the primary occupations of the local population.
Transportation to and from Babile is primarily by road.
