Arrotino

An arrotino (Italian, plural arrotini) is a travelling knife grinder or scissor sharpener. Historically, arrotini were a common sight in Italian cities and towns, moving from place to place with their grinding wheel, which was typically mounted on a cart or bicycle. They would announce their presence with a distinctive musical call, often played on a panpipe or similar instrument, to attract customers in need of sharpening services.
