Archie (meteorite)

Archie is an H6 chondrite meteorite that fell in Cass County, Missouri, United States, on August 10, 1932. The fall occurred around 8:00 PM local time. A single stone weighing 16.2 kg (35.7 lbs) was recovered. The meteorite is named after the nearby town of Archie.

The Archie meteorite is classified as an ordinary chondrite, specifically of the H group, indicating a high iron content. The petrologic type 6 signifies that it has undergone significant thermal metamorphism, altering its original chondrules. H6 chondrites are among the most common types of meteorites found.

The main mass of the Archie meteorite is held by the Field Museum of Natural History in Chicago. Smaller samples are available in other meteorite collections.
