Chinon

Chinon is a town located in the Indre-et-Loire department in the Centre-Val de Loire region of France. Situated on the Vienne River, it is known for its medieval fortress, the Château de Chinon, which played a significant role in French history, particularly during the Hundred Years' War. Joan of Arc famously met Charles VII there in 1429.

The town is also renowned for its wine production. Chinon is an Appellation d'Origine Contrôlée (AOC) for red wines made primarily from Cabernet Franc grapes. These wines are typically light to medium-bodied, with characteristic earthy and sometimes herbaceous notes.
