Alm (river)
The Alm is a river in Upper Austria, Austria. It is a right tributary of the Traun.
The Alm originates in the northern part of the Salzkammergut region, fed by springs and streams flowing from the mountains surrounding the Almsee lake. The river flows generally northward through a valley carved by glacial action during the ice ages. Notable towns and villages along its course include Grünau im Almtal and Pettenbach.
The Alm is historically significant for its role in powering mills and other industries. Today, it is also important for recreational activities such as fishing and kayaking.
