Sohrab Khan Gorji (Georgian general)
Sohrab Khan Gorji (Georgian: სოჰრაბ ხან გორჯი), also known as Sohrab Beg Gorji, was an 18th-century Georgian military figure who served in various capacities within the Iranian military. He belonged to the Gorji family, a Georgian noble family prominent in Safavid and Qajar Iran. He rose to the rank of general and held positions of authority in regions under Iranian control. His career highlights the complex interaction between Georgian elites and the Iranian imperial system during a period of significant political and military upheaval in both Georgia and Iran. Details of his early life and specific military campaigns are fragmented across historical sources, but it is known he was a significant commander and participated in various conflicts within and around Persia. His presence in the Iranian military demonstrates the continued influence of Georgian military expertise and manpower within the Iranian army throughout the 18th century.
