Anthony Howell (admiral)
Anthony Howell is a retired Royal Navy officer who served as Deputy Commander Fleet.
Howell joined the Royal Navy and received training at Britannia Royal Naval College Dartmouth. He rose through the ranks, specializing in navigation and operations. Significant postings included command of the frigate HMS Montrose, command of the destroyer HMS Southampton, and service as Captain Sea Training.
Later, he was appointed Commander Amphibious Task Group, followed by promotion to Rear Admiral and appointment as Assistant Chief of Naval Staff (Ships). He subsequently served as Flag Officer Sea Training, responsible for the training of Royal Navy and Royal Fleet Auxiliary ships and crews. His final appointment before retirement was as Deputy Commander Fleet, a role responsible for the operational readiness of the Royal Navy fleet.
Howell's career included deployments to various regions, including the Persian Gulf and the Mediterranean. He is a graduate of the Royal College of Defence Studies. Since retirement from the Royal Navy, he has held positions in the maritime industry and is involved in charitable work.
