Animaniacs (2020 TV series)
The Animaniacs is an American animated comedy streaming television series developed by Wellesley Wild and Steven Spielberg for Hulu. It is a revival of the original 1993 animated television series of the same name. The series features the return of the Warner siblings, Yakko, Wakko, and Dot, along with Pinky and the Brain.
The series is produced by Amblin Television and Warner Bros. Animation, the same studios behind the original. It premiered on Hulu on November 20, 2020, with subsequent seasons released in 2021 and 2023.
The revival maintains the original's blend of slapstick, pop culture references, and musical numbers, while also incorporating more mature humor and topical satire relevant to contemporary audiences. Episodes typically consist of two Animaniacs segments and one Pinky and the Brain segment.
Voice actors Rob Paulsen, Tress MacNeille, Jess Harnell, and Maurice LaMarche reprise their roles as Yakko, Dot, Wakko, and the Brain, respectively. Paulsen also voices Pinky.
The series received generally positive reviews from critics, who praised its humor, animation, and the return of the original voice cast. However, some critics found the political satire to be heavy-handed at times.
