Anillodes

Anillodes is a genus of spiders belonging to the family Gnaphosidae, commonly known as ground spiders. These spiders are found primarily in Australia. Anillodes are characterized by their flattened bodies, dark coloration, and distinctive spinnerets. They are nocturnal hunters, preying on small insects and other invertebrates. The genus was first described by Platnick in 1976. Species within Anillodes typically inhabit leaf litter, under rocks, and in other ground-level habitats. The taxonomic classification of Anillodes places it within the larger group of araneomorph spiders, which are characterized by having fangs that move in a pincer-like fashion.
