Charles Hudson (baseball)
Charles Hudson (born February 15, 1959, Gilmer, Texas, died February 24, 2024, Kilgore, Texas) was an American professional baseball pitcher who played in Major League Baseball (MLB) from 1983 to 1991.
Hudson pitched for the Philadelphia Phillies (1983-1986), New York Yankees (1987-1988), Detroit Tigers (1989), and Texas Rangers (1990-1991). He was primarily known for his sinker.
Hudson was a key member of the Phillies' starting rotation in the mid-1980s, winning 13 games in 1985 and 12 games in 1986. He was traded to the Yankees before the 1987 season. While he didn't replicate his earlier success in New York, he remained a valuable pitcher. He finished his career with a record of 85 wins and 83 losses and a career ERA of 4.06.
