IZh-58
The IZh-58 is a Soviet/Russian double-barreled shotgun, manufactured by the Izhevsk Mechanical Plant (IZh, now part of the Kalashnikov Concern). It was produced from 1958 until the late 1980s, becoming one of the most widely produced and popular hunting shotguns in the Soviet Union and beyond. The IZh-58 was available in various gauges, most commonly 12 and 16, although 20 gauge variants were also manufactured.
Known for its reliability, simplicity, and relatively low cost, the IZh-58 features a side-by-side hammerless design with internal hammers and a top lever for opening the action. It typically has extractors, but some models featured ejectors. The barrels are usually made from high-quality steel, and the stock and fore-end are typically made of wood. The overall construction is robust, making it a durable and dependable firearm suitable for a variety of hunting purposes. Different models and variations of the IZh-58 exist, with variations in barrel length, choke configuration, and stock material.
