Pat Rizzo
Pat Rizzo (born August 18, 1941, Newark, New Jersey, died October 26, 2021, Los Angeles, California) was an American jazz saxophonist and woodwind player, known primarily for his work with the Tonight Show Band under Doc Severinsen and his extensive session work. He played both alto and tenor saxophone, as well as clarinet, flute, and other reed instruments.
Rizzo began his career in the big band era and performed with a variety of artists across genres, including Frank Sinatra, Harry James, and many others. He was a long-time member of the Tonight Show Band, contributing to the show's iconic sound. Beyond television, Rizzo was a prolific studio musician, appearing on numerous recordings as a sideman. His versatility on multiple instruments made him a highly sought-after session player.
