Amphigynous
In botany, amphigynous refers to a specific type of fungal growth pattern, primarily observed in oomycetes. It describes the growth of a hypha (a fungal filament) through the oogonium (the female sexual structure) such that the oogonium appears to be pierced or surrounded by the hypha. Specifically, the antheridium (the male sexual structure) develops after the hypha has already penetrated the oogonium. This contrasts with paragynous and hypogynous arrangements. In an amphigynous arrangement, the oogonial stalk continues to grow through the antheridium.
