Alvescot

Alvescot is a village and civil parish in West Oxfordshire, England, located approximately 6 miles (10 km) south of Witney. It lies within the Cotswolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

Historically, Alvescot's name derives from Old English, possibly meaning "Aelf's cottage" or "Aelf's cot." The village has evidence of human settlement dating back to Roman times. It is mentioned in the Domesday Book of 1086.
