Alan, Count of Nantes (988–990)
Alan, Count of Nantes (died 990) was a member of the House of Nantes who briefly held the title of Count of Nantes from 988 to 990. He was the successor to Conan I, Duke of Brittany, in the county of Nantes, while Conan retained the ducal title and continued to rule Brittany.
Very little is definitively known about Alan's life or reign. The circumstances of his accession to the countship and the specific nature of his relationship with Conan I are not entirely clear from surviving historical records. He may have been appointed by Conan as a viceroy or co-ruler in Nantes, possibly to secure the southern borders of Brittany or to groom him as a successor.
Alan died in 990. Following his death, Nantes returned to the control of Conan I, reuniting the county with the Duchy of Brittany.
