Against the Tide (TV series)

Against the Tide is a Philippine television drama series broadcast by GMA Network. The series premiered on May 2, 2011 and concluded on July 15, 2011. It starred Marian Rivera and Dingdong Dantes in the lead roles.

The series tells the story of a young woman named Ayana, played by Marian Rivera, who struggles to protect her family and community against the exploitation of a powerful businessman. She finds an unexpected ally and love interest in Basti, portrayed by Dingdong Dantes, whose family is connected to the very forces Ayana is fighting against. The narrative explores themes of social injustice, environmentalism, and the resilience of ordinary people in the face of adversity.

The show was directed by Joyce E. Bernal and Lore Reyes. Its broadcast marked a reunion for Rivera and Dantes, who had previously starred together in several successful television series and films.
