Absolute Boyfriend (Japanese TV series)

Absolute Boyfriend (絶対彼氏~完全無欠の恋人ロボット~, Zettai Kareshi ~Kanzen Muketsu no Koibito Robotto~) is a Japanese romantic comedy drama television series that aired on Fuji TV in 2008. It is based on the manga series Absolute Boyfriend by Yuu Watase.

The series follows Riiko Izawa, a young woman unlucky in love, who orders a robotic boyfriend designed to be the perfect partner. She names him Night Tenjo. Night is initially programmed to fulfill Riiko's every need and desire, but as they spend time together, both Riiko and Night begin to develop genuine feelings for each other.

The story explores themes of love, artificial intelligence, and the meaning of human connection. As Night learns and evolves beyond his initial programming, he starts to question his purpose and what it truly means to be human, adding a layer of complexity to the romantic relationship. Riiko, in turn, grapples with her feelings for a robot and the ethical implications of loving a manufactured being.

The drama stars Mokomichi Hayami as Night Tenjo, Saki Aibu as Riiko Izawa, and Hiro Mizushima as Soushi Asamoto, a colleague of Riiko's who is also romantically interested in her. The series was popular in Japan and other parts of Asia and has been adapted into other television series in different countries, including Taiwan and South Korea.
