AMX-13
The AMX-13 is a French light tank produced from 1952 to 1987. It was designed to be air-transportable and to provide fire support for airborne and infantry units. The AMX-13 is characterized by its oscillating turret, which housed the main armament and autoloader. This design allowed for a compact turret and high rate of fire.
The initial production model was equipped with a 75mm gun. Later variants were fitted with 90mm and 105mm guns to increase firepower. The AMX-13 saw extensive use with the French Army and was also exported to numerous countries around the world, participating in various conflicts.
Its relatively light weight and small size made it suitable for a wide range of terrain and tactical situations. Despite its age, upgraded versions of the AMX-13 remain in service with some nations. The tank’s chassis also served as the basis for a variety of other armored vehicles, including self-propelled guns and armored personnel carriers.
