4 Persei
4 Persei (also abbreviated as 4 Per) is a star located in the constellation Perseus. It is a variable star, specifically a slowly pulsating B-type star (SPB). These types of stars exhibit small variations in their brightness due to non-radial pulsations within the star's interior.
4 Persei is a blue-white giant with a spectral classification of B6III. Its apparent magnitude varies slightly, typically around 5.23, making it faintly visible to the naked eye under ideal viewing conditions. Located at a distance of roughly 530 light-years from Earth, its absolute magnitude suggests that it is significantly more luminous than the Sun.
The star's pulsations occur over a period of several days, causing minor fluctuations in its brightness. Precise measurements of these pulsations contribute to our understanding of stellar structure and evolution.
