35th Reserve Division (German Empire)

The 35th Reserve Division (German: 35. Reserve-Division) was a unit of the Imperial German Army in World War I. It was formed in August 1914 as part of the initial mobilization. The division was primarily composed of reservists and older, less-experienced soldiers compared to active-duty divisions.

The 35th Reserve Division participated in the invasion of Belgium and the subsequent fighting in France. It saw action in the Battle of the Marne in September 1914, a pivotal battle that halted the German advance on Paris. Throughout the war, the division served primarily on the Western Front.

The division participated in various battles and engagements in the Artois region, and the Somme. It also saw action in the defensive battles of 1917 and 1918 as the war turned against Germany.

Demobilization of the division began in late 1918 after the armistice. Like many German divisions, it was formally dissolved in early 1919.
