Øravík
Øravík is a village located on the island of Suðuroy in the Faroe Islands. It lies on the east coast of the island, along the Trongisvágsfjørður fjord. Historically, Øravík was a significant fishing village. Today, it is a small, quiet settlement with a relatively small population. The village is connected to other settlements on Suðuroy by road. Its name likely derives from Old Norse and refers to a sandy bay or beach ( ørvi meaning sand/gravel and vík meaning bay or inlet). Øravík is part of the municipality of Tvøroyri.
