You Can't Go Home Again (album)

You Can't Go Home Again is the debut studio album by the American rock band, The Smith Street Band. It was released in 2011 on Poison City Records. The album is named after the 1940 novel of the same name by Thomas Wolfe. It features a folk-punk sound, characteristic of the band's early work, with lyrical themes exploring themes of nostalgia, travel, personal struggles, and the challenges of returning to familiar places after experiencing significant change. The album was recorded at various locations around Melbourne, Australia. While not a commercially charting success upon its initial release, You Can't Go Home Again helped establish The Smith Street Band's cult following and paved the way for their subsequent, more commercially successful releases.
