Winston Davis (Jamaican cricketer)

Winston Anthony Lloyd Davis (born September 18, 1958) is a former Jamaican cricketer who played primarily as a right-arm fast bowler. He represented the West Indies in 15 Test matches and 25 One Day Internationals between 1983 and 1988.

Davis is best remembered for his outstanding performance in the 1983 Cricket World Cup against Australia at Headingley, where he took 7 wickets for 51 runs, a then-record for a World Cup match. This performance contributed significantly to the West Indies' victory and their continued dominance in the tournament.

Prior to his international career, Davis played first-class cricket for Leicestershire in England. His aggressive bowling style and ability to generate significant pace and bounce made him a valuable asset to both Leicestershire and the West Indies.

Following his cricket career, Davis tragically suffered a fall in 1997 that left him paralyzed from the neck down. Since then, he has resided in England and required ongoing care. Despite his disability, he remains an admired figure in West Indian cricket history.
