William Watson (Australian politician)

William Watson (28 March 1861 – 22 November 1922) was an Australian politician. He served as a Senator for New South Wales from 1917 to 1920, representing the Nationalist Party.

Born in Campbelltown, New South Wales, Watson was educated at Campbelltown Grammar School. Before entering politics, he was a grazier and businessman with interests in agriculture and mining. He was a member of the Farmers and Settlers' Association before entering federal politics.

Watson was elected to the Senate in the 1917 federal election. His term commenced on 1 July 1917. He served on several Senate committees during his time in parliament, focusing primarily on matters related to rural industries and national development.

He lost his seat in the 1920 election, when the Nationalist Party ticket suffered losses due to the emergence of the Country Party and divisions within the broader conservative movement. He did not return to federal politics.

Watson died in 1922.
