William Cope (footballer)

William Cope was an English footballer who played as a full-back in the late 19th century.

Details of Cope's career are scarce, as comprehensive records from that era are often incomplete. He is known to have played for Stoke F.C. (later Stoke City) from 1883 to 1888. He was part of the Stoke team that was a founding member of The Football League in 1888. However, it appears he did not feature in any League matches for Stoke during the inaugural 1888-89 season.
