Vienna station (VTA)
Vienna station is a Washington Metro station in Fairfax County, Virginia, serving the Orange Line. It is the western terminus of the Orange Line and one of the system's busiest stations, primarily serving commuters traveling into and out of Washington, D.C. The station is located in the Dunn Loring area of Vienna, near the intersection of Interstate 66 and Nutley Street.
The station consists of one island platform serving two tracks. It includes a large parking garage and several kiss-and-ride locations, catering to its role as a major park-and-ride facility. The surrounding area also features bus bays connecting to various Fairfax Connector routes, providing access to other parts of Fairfax County.
Vienna station opened on June 7, 1986, as part of the Orange Line's extension beyond Ballston. The station's design is consistent with the other above-ground stations built during the same expansion phase. Over the years, Vienna station has undergone various upgrades and expansions to accommodate increasing ridership. Future developments around the station are planned to include mixed-use residential and commercial projects, aimed at creating a more walkable and transit-oriented environment.
