Vectorman

Vectorman is a side-scrolling action platformer video game developed by BlueSky Software and published by Sega in 1995 for the Sega Genesis/Mega Drive. The game stars Vectorman, an Orbot who has been cleaning up toxic waste left on Earth while humanity vacations in space. Upon returning to Earth, humanity finds the planet has been taken over by other Orbots, led by the tyrannical Warhead, who was accidentally activated by a nuclear missile. Vectorman must fight through various levels to defeat Warhead and free Earth.

The game is notable for its use of pre-rendered 3D sprites for Vectorman's character model, which gave the character a unique and fluid appearance for the time, contrasting with the more traditional pixel-based graphics commonly found on the Genesis. This technology allowed for complex animations and transformations.

Vectorman features a variety of levels, each with its own unique environments and enemies. Vectorman can collect power-ups to transform into different forms, granting him new abilities and weapons. These forms include a drill, a bomb, and a powerful energy beam.

The game was generally well-received by critics for its innovative graphics, fast-paced gameplay, and diverse level design. It spawned a sequel, Vectorman 2, released in 1996, which continued the story and improved upon the original's graphical capabilities. Vectorman remains a notable title in the Sega Genesis library and a demonstration of the console's capabilities.
