Urb (magazine)
Urb was an American monthly magazine devoted to electronic music, hip hop, art, and urban culture. Founded in 1990 and ceasing publication in 2009, it was headquartered in Los Angeles, California.
The magazine was known for its coverage of emerging electronic music scenes, particularly drum and bass, house, and techno, as well as its spotlight on independent hip-hop artists and graffiti art. Urb also featured fashion, design, and technology related to urban lifestyles.
Over its nearly two decades of publication, Urb developed a reputation for discovering and showcasing up-and-coming talent, often providing a platform for artists before they achieved mainstream success. It was considered an influential voice in underground music and culture, offering a counterpoint to more commercially-oriented publications.
Urb offered content both in print and online, with the website serving as an extension of the magazine's coverage. The website provided news, reviews, interviews, and streaming audio content.
