United Nations General Assembly Resolution 3275 (XXIX)

United Nations General Assembly Resolution 3275 (XXIX) was a resolution adopted by the United Nations General Assembly on November 29, 1974. This resolution granted observer status to the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) at the United Nations General Assembly.

Prior to Resolution 3275, the PLO had no official standing within the UN system. The resolution recognized the PLO as the representative of the Palestinian people. This decision allowed the PLO to participate in the debates and proceedings of the General Assembly, although without the right to vote.

The resolution marked a significant shift in the international recognition of the Palestinian cause and the role of the PLO. It paved the way for the PLO's increasing involvement in international diplomacy and its eventual recognition by numerous countries. The resolution was adopted by a vote of 95 in favor, 17 against, and 19 abstentions.
