Ministry of Education (Iran)
The Ministry of Education (Iran) (Persian: وزارت آموزش و پرورش, romanized: Vezârat-e Âmuzeš va Parvareš) is a governmental body in Iran responsible for overseeing the primary, secondary, and vocational education systems within the country. It is one of the oldest ministries in Iran, having undergone various iterations and name changes throughout its history.
The Ministry's primary responsibilities include formulating educational policies and curricula, managing the national budget allocated to education, training and employing teachers and educational staff, administering national examinations, and overseeing the construction and maintenance of educational facilities.
The structure of the Ministry includes numerous departments and organizations that handle specific aspects of education, such as curriculum development, teacher training, assessment, and technical and vocational education. It also oversees the education of Iranian children living abroad through affiliated schools and programs.
The Minister of Education is appointed by the President of Iran and is a member of the Cabinet. The Ministry plays a significant role in shaping the social, cultural, and intellectual development of Iranian youth and, as such, is often a subject of political and social debate within Iran. The educational policies implemented by the Ministry are often influenced by the prevailing political ideology and priorities of the government.
