USS Tarantula (SP-124)
USS Tarantula (SP-124) was a United States Navy patrol vessel in commission from 1917 to 1919. Tarantula was originally a private motorboat built in 1916. The U.S. Navy acquired her from her owner, B. H. Ridder of New York City, on 30 May 1917 for use as a section patrol boat during World War I.
Commissioned on 18 June 1917, USS Tarantula (SP-124) was assigned to the 3rd Naval District and carried out patrol duties in the New York City area for the duration of the war.
Following the end of World War I, Tarantula was stricken from the Navy List on 28 March 1919 and sold to Charles H. Slocum on 28 April 1919. Her subsequent fate is unknown.
