USS Conner (DD-72)

USS Conner (DD-72) was a Caldwell-class destroyer in the United States Navy during World War I. Named for Commodore Thomas Conner, she was commissioned in 1918 and served primarily in convoy escort duties in the Atlantic during the war. After World War I, she participated in fleet exercises and various training operations. USS Conner was decommissioned in 1922 and sold for scrap in 1939, prior to the outbreak of World War II. Her service history was relatively brief compared to some other destroyers of her era.
