USS Caspian (ID-1380)

The USS Caspian (ID-1380) was a United States Navy cargo ship in commission from 1918 to 1919. Originally built as the commercial cargo ship War Topaz for the British government, she was transferred to the U.S. Navy during World War I. Assigned to the Naval Overseas Transportation Service (NOTS), she transported cargo to support American forces in Europe. Following the end of the war, USS Caspian returned to the United States, was decommissioned, and returned to the British government. She subsequently returned to commercial service. Her primary role was logistical support, ferrying supplies and materials across the Atlantic Ocean.
