Tupuola
Tupuola is a Samoan chiefly title. It is one of the four paramount titles of Aleipata Itupa i Luga, a district located on the eastern end of Upolu island in Samoa. The other three paramount titles are Letufuga, Fuataga, and Masefau. Holders of the Tupuola title have historically played a significant role in the political landscape of Aleipata and Samoa more broadly. The title carries considerable respect and authority within the Samoan social hierarchy and is passed down through traditional processes of selection and conferral, often involving family councils (fono) and adherence to Samoan customary law (fa'a Samoa). The specific history and significance of the Tupuola title are deeply rooted in the genealogies and historical narratives of Aleipata.
