Tulsa Roughnecks (1993–2000)

The Tulsa Roughnecks were a professional soccer team based in Tulsa, Oklahoma, that competed in various leagues from 1993 to 2000. The team was a revival of the original Tulsa Roughnecks, a North American Soccer League (NASL) franchise that won the Soccer Bowl in 1983.

This iteration of the Roughnecks primarily played in the United States Interregional Soccer League (USISL), which later became known as the United Soccer Leagues (USL). The team experienced moderate success during its existence, often qualifying for playoffs but never achieving the same championship heights as its NASL predecessor. The Roughnecks provided a local outlet for professional soccer and developed local talent.

The team folded following the 2000 season. Its departure left a void in Tulsa's professional soccer landscape until the establishment of later teams such as FC Tulsa, which has carried on the Roughnecks legacy in various ways, including adopting the name "Tulsa Roughnecks FC" for a period. The 1993-2000 Tulsa Roughnecks are remembered as a significant part of Tulsa's soccer history, bridging the gap between the NASL era and the modern development of the sport in the city.
