Toni (footballer, born 1972)

Toni (António Manuel Tocha Marques, born 9 January 1972) is a Portuguese retired footballer who played as a right midfielder.

Primarily associated with Vitória de Guimarães, where he amassed over 200 official appearances, Toni also represented several other clubs in Portugal's top two divisions throughout his career.

Career:

Toni began his professional career with Vitória de Guimarães, making his Primeira Liga debut in the early 1990s. He quickly established himself as a key player, known for his pace, dribbling ability, and crossing accuracy. His performances for Vitória earned him recognition, and he became a consistent presence in the team's midfield.

After a successful spell at Vitória, Toni moved to other Portuguese clubs, including Estrela da Amadora, Rio Ave, and Naval 1º de Maio. While he continued to play at a high level, he was unable to replicate the same level of success he had achieved at Vitória.

Toni retired from professional football in the mid-2000s.
