Titan (game engine)
Titan is a proprietary game engine developed by Crytek. It served as the successor to CryEngine 2 and was primarily used for the development of Crysis and Crysis Warhead.
Titan was known for its advanced graphics capabilities at the time of its use, emphasizing photorealistic environments and visual effects. Key features included improved water rendering, enhanced physics simulation, and advancements in lighting and shadowing techniques. It was also designed to offer a more streamlined workflow for developers compared to its predecessor.
While Titan formed the foundation for the original Crysis series, Crytek subsequently transitioned to newer versions of the CryEngine, like CryEngine 3, which incorporated and expanded upon the features initially implemented in Titan. Due to this transition and the age of the engine, it is no longer actively used for new game development. The core technologies and design philosophies, however, influenced the later iterations of Crytek's game engine technology.
