Thea Lim

Thea Lim is a contemporary Canadian author. She is best known for her debut novel, An Ocean of Minutes, published in 2018. The novel, a work of speculative fiction, explores themes of immigration, economic hardship, and love in a dystopian future where a flu pandemic forces people to trade years of their lives for passage to the future.

Lim has also published short stories and essays in various literary magazines and anthologies. An Ocean of Minutes was a finalist for the Scotiabank Giller Prize and the Amazon Canada First Novel Award, and it won the Ethel Wilson Fiction Prize. Lim's writing often examines the impact of social and political forces on individual lives. She holds an MFA in Creative Writing from Syracuse University.
