The Whistle (film)
The Whistle is a 1921 American silent drama film directed by Lambert Hillyer and starring William S. Hart, Frank Thorwald, and Myrtle Stedman. The screenplay was written by Lambert Hillyer based on a story by Hugh Wiley. The film tells the story of a steel mill worker who is unjustly accused of theft and must clear his name and regain the trust of his son. The film is notable for its portrayal of working-class life and the challenges faced by immigrant communities in early 20th-century America. It is considered a Western due to William S. Hart's association with the genre, although the setting is an industrial one. A print of the film is preserved in the Library of Congress collection.
