The Switch (Seinfeld)
"The Switch" is the sixth episode of the sixth season of the American television sitcom Seinfeld. It originally aired on NBC on October 27, 1994. The episode revolves around Jerry's growing discomfort with his girlfriend Jodi's increasingly strange and detached behavior, and his suspicion that her personality change is due to her father's influence.
The main plot point involves Jerry confiding in George about his concerns. George, never one to shy away from ill-advised advice, suggests that Jerry break up with Jodi. However, Jerry is hesitant to do so directly because he is interested in her roommate, Donna Chang, a woman of apparent Korean descent.
Meanwhile, Kramer develops an obsession with making his own tomato juice. He borrows a juicer from Jerry and undertakes the arduous task, becoming frustrated by the mess and effort involved.
The comedic tension arises from the awkwardness of Jerry's situation, George's terrible advice, and the recurring motif of Kramer’s tomato juice endeavors. The episode culminates with Jerry attempting to initiate a relationship with Donna Chang, only to discover she is not of Korean descent and her name is actually pronounced "Chang," much to his embarrassment and dismay. The episode's title refers to the perceived "switch" in Jodi's personality.
