The Fearless Four (group)

The Fearless Four was an influential early hip-hop group originating from Harlem, New York City. They formed in the late 1970s and were closely associated with the Sugarhill Records label, known for popularizing rap music with acts like the Sugarhill Gang.

The group consisted of four members: Devine Brown (The Devastating Devine), Tito Molina (The Original Tito), Michael Wright (The Great Peso), and Walter White (Mighty Mike C). They were known for their synchronized routines, catchy hooks, and distinct vocal styles.

While they didn't achieve the same mainstream commercial success as some of their Sugarhill contemporaries, The Fearless Four were highly regarded within the early hip-hop community. They are remembered for their contributions to the development of hip-hop's lyrical complexity and performance styles. They performed at many of the pivotal early hip-hop events and venues.

One of their most well-known tracks is "Rockin' It," released in 1982. The song features a driving beat and showcases each member's individual rapping abilities. Despite not being a chart-topping hit, "Rockin' It" is considered a classic of the old-school hip-hop era and continues to be sampled and referenced by later artists.

The Fearless Four eventually disbanded, with its members pursuing various individual endeavors. However, their legacy as pioneers of hip-hop remains significant. Their contributions helped to lay the groundwork for the genre's future evolution and their impact continues to be felt within the hip-hop community.
