Teuchern

Teuchern is a town in the Burgenlandkreis district of Saxony-Anhalt, Germany. It is situated approximately 10 km southeast of Weißenfels, and 30 km southwest of Leipzig.

Geography: Teuchern lies in a fertile agricultural area. The town is located near the border with Saxony.

History: The first documented mention of Teuchern was in 968. Throughout history, Teuchern was primarily an agricultural center. It experienced growth with the development of brown coal mining in the region.

Administration: Teuchern includes several incorporated villages or Ortsteile, including, but not limited to, Gröben, Krauschwitz, and Deuben. The administrative seat for the Verwaltungsgemeinschaft (administrative community) of Teucherner Land is located in Teuchern.

Economy: Agriculture continues to play a role in the local economy. Following the decline of brown coal mining, the town has focused on developing other sectors.
