Terespol
Terespol is a town in eastern Poland, located in Biała Podlaska County, Lublin Voivodeship, on the border with Belarus. It is situated on the Bug River, directly opposite the Belarusian city of Brest.
Terespol is a crucial border crossing point between Poland and Belarus, handling both passenger and freight traffic. The main border crossing connects to the E30 European route and the Berlin-Moscow railway line. The town's economy is largely dependent on border trade and related services.
Historically, the area was part of various Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth territories. Terespol itself grew in importance with the development of railway connections in the 19th century. During both World Wars, the town suffered significant damage.
Today, Terespol is a small but important town, playing a key role in international transport and trade. The population is relatively small, and the town retains a distinctly borderland character. It features infrastructure related to border control and customs, as well as services catering to travelers and freight transport.
