Technique (band)
Technique was an American electronic rock band formed in Brooklyn, New York City in the late 1990s. The band consisted of Xan Tyler (vocals, programming), Jim Rose (guitar, programming), and Eric Van Thyne (bass).
Their music was characterized by a blend of electronic music, industrial rock, and new wave influences. They are often associated with the burgeoning electroclash scene of the early 2000s, though their sound incorporated elements beyond that specific genre.
Technique released their debut album, "Pop Down," in 2001 on the French label Output Recordings. The album received critical acclaim for its innovative sound and darkly humorous lyrics. Following the release of their debut, they toured extensively, supporting bands like Fischerspooner and The Faint.
Their second and final album, "Digital Perfection," was released in 2004. While it maintained elements of their signature sound, it also incorporated more polished production and songwriting. Shortly after the release of "Digital Perfection," the band dissolved.
Although Technique was relatively short-lived, they are remembered for their unique contribution to the electroclash and electronic rock scenes of the early 2000s. Their music has continued to be discovered by new listeners through online streaming and file sharing.
