Tabart
Tabart was a British publishing house specializing in children's books in the early 19th century. William Tabart (1770-1821) founded the company, formally known as Tabart and Co., in London. Tabart's publications were notable for their high-quality illustrations and moralistic or educational content, often featuring fairy tales, fables, and simplified versions of classic stories. He is considered a pioneer in the field of children's literature and contributed significantly to shaping the literary landscape for young readers during the Regency era. Tabart's business eventually encountered financial difficulties, and he was declared bankrupt in 1818. His publishing endeavors ceased shortly thereafter. Despite its relatively short lifespan, Tabart and Co. left a lasting mark on the history of children's book publishing.
