Swift River (Ware River tributary)
The Swift River is a river located in central Massachusetts, United States. It is a tributary of the Ware River, which in turn flows into the Quaboag River and eventually the Connecticut River. This Swift River should not be confused with the larger Swift River that was impounded to create the Quabbin Reservoir.
This smaller Swift River is primarily located in the town of Barre, Massachusetts. Its watershed drains a relatively small area of forested and rural land. The river's flow is generally moderate, though subject to seasonal fluctuations based on precipitation.
The river is known locally for recreational activities such as fishing and kayaking, although access may be limited in some areas due to private property. The Swift River contributes to the overall ecological health of the Ware River watershed by providing habitat for aquatic life and contributing to the river's overall flow.
