Prince Frederick of Prussia (1911–1966)
Prince Frederick of Prussia (Friedrich Georg Wilhelm Christoph Arthur Eitel Friedrich von Preußen) was a member of the House of Hohenzollern, the royal house of Prussia. He was born on December 19, 1911, at Schloss Kamenetz in Silesia (now Kamieniec Ząbkowicki, Poland), and died on April 20, 1966, in Reinhartshausen, Germany.
Prince Frederick was the fourth and youngest son of Crown Prince Wilhelm of Germany and Duchess Cecilie of Mecklenburg-Schwerin. His paternal grandfather was Kaiser Wilhelm II, the last German Emperor. Due to the abolition of the German monarchy in 1918 following World War I, he and his family lost their official titles and privileges, although they retained significant personal wealth and influence.
He married Lady Brigid Guinness, daughter of Rupert Guinness, 2nd Earl of Iveagh, on July 30, 1938, in Little Amwell, Hertfordshire, England. They had five children:
- Prince Frederick Nicholas of Prussia (born 1946)
- Prince William Andrew of Prussia (born 1947, died 1947)
- Princess Victoria Marina of Prussia (born 1952)
- Prince Rupert of Prussia (born 1955)
- Princess Antonia of Prussia (born 1955)
During World War II, Prince Frederick served in the German army. After the war, he lived a relatively private life. He is buried at the Hohenzollern Castle.
