Old Main (Minot State University)

Old Main is the oldest building on the campus of Minot State University in Minot, North Dakota. Constructed in 1912, it served as the original academic and administrative center for the institution, then known as Minot Normal School. The building's architecture is characterized by its brick exterior and classical revival style, featuring prominent columns and a central cupola.

Over the years, Old Main has housed classrooms, faculty offices, the library, and administrative services. As the university expanded, functions were gradually moved to newer buildings, but Old Main remained a central and symbolic landmark.

Today, Old Main continues to serve as an important building for the university. It houses primarily administrative offices, including the office of the President, and remains a focal point for campus events and traditions. The building is often featured in university publications and is considered a symbol of Minot State University's history and heritage. It underwent significant renovations in the late 20th and early 21st centuries to preserve its architectural integrity and adapt it for modern use. The building is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
